VIAJAR Awards honor tourism excellence and name Cáceres Best Cultural Destination
The fifth edition of the VIAJAR Awards was held in Madrid, honoring 16 destinations, companies, and professionals for excellence and innovation in the tourism sector. The awards were presented by VIAJAR magazine and its publisher, Prensa Ibérica.
During the ceremony, Prensa Ibérica president Javier Moll noted that Spain concluded 2025 with 97 million international visitors, generating approximately 135,000 million euros in spending. Moll emphasized the need for sustainable, high-value tourism that is distributed more evenly across the territory.
Cáceres was recognized at the event, receiving the ‘Best Cultural Destination’ award. Mayor Rafa Mateos highlighted the city's ability to blend its status as a World Heritage site with modern cultural offerings, such as the Helga de Alvear Museum, and noted the city's ongoing candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2031.
