Vialidad approves ten-month suspension for road maintenance contract

The Vialidad department has approved a ten-month suspension for a road maintenance contract due to a shortage of aggregates. The suspension period was effective from October 31, 2025, to June 28, 2026.

Contract 38/2023, awarded to Fontana Nicastro for approximately $5.36 billion, covers pothole repairs across several locations including Pehuajó, Hipólito Yrigoyen, Bolívar, Carlos Casares, Trenque Lauquen, Tres Lomas, Pellegrini, Salliqueló, Guaminí, Daireaux, and Adolfo Alsina. Work resumed on June 29 with 116 days remaining, setting a new completion deadline of October 23.

As part of the agreement, the contractor waived claims for general, unproductive, and financial expenses, as well as any compensation resulting from the stoppage. A separate contract for access to Pirovano, valued at approximately $745.9 million with the municipality of Bolívar, also saw a suspension that ended on June 29, 2026.
