Linha 17-Ouro monorail expands operating hours in São Paulo

The Linha 17-Ouro monorail in São Paulo is expanding its operating hours starting Wednesday, September 30. The service will now run from 6:00 to 22:00, Monday through Saturday, adding nine hours of daily service and including Saturdays.

As part of its ongoing transitional operation phase, the service remains free of charge. The expansion includes an increase in the number of trains from two to six. Five trains will operate in a “carousel” system between Morumbi and Congonhas Airport, while a sixth train will run between Brooklin Paulista and Washington Luís. This increase in rolling stock is expected to reduce average passenger wait times from 18 minutes to 9 minutes.

Due to the new operational configuration, passengers traveling to or from Washington Luís station must transfer at Brooklin Paulista. The São Paulo Metro will use the extended hours and the periods without service (between 22:00 and 06:00 and on Sundays) to conduct essential system tests, monitor infrastructure performance, and analyze passenger demand before transitioning to full commercial operation.
