Viana do Castelo approves 8.5 million euro housing project in Darque

The Viana do Castelo City Council has approved the contract for the construction of 64 controlled-cost housing units in Darque. The project, valued at approximately 8.49 million euros, was awarded following an international public tender and is expected to be completed within 720 days.

The new apartments will include T1, T2, and T3 typologies. This initiative is part of the municipality's Integrated Housing Program, specifically targeting the middle class, young families, and households with monthly incomes between 1,700 and 3,000 euros by offering prices below market value.

Mayor Luís Nobre stated that the project will also include the urban requalification of the area surrounding the six lots to revitalize a zone that had been “disqualified for decades.” This investment complements the municipality's broader housing strategy and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which has directed nearly 51 million euros toward housing in the region, benefiting 641 households.
