Viana do Castelo opens new 21 million euro bridge over Lima River

A new bridge over the Lima River in Viana do Castelo has opened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The infrastructure, costing over 21 million euros, was funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The bridge provides a new connection between National Road 203 (EN 203) in Deocriste and National Road 202 (EN 202) in Nogueira. Designed for diverse use, the structure includes a roadway 10 meters wide and two lateral sidewalks, each 2.5 meters wide, dedicated to pedestrians and cyclists.

Viana do Castelo Mayor Luís Nobre announced that the opening coincides with the municipal holiday of Nossa Senhora d’Agonia. While the bridge is now operational, a formal inauguration ceremony involving the government is expected to take place in September.
