Viana do Castelo to host António Sampaio da Nóvoa Education Center

A cooperation protocol has been signed to establish the ‘Futuros da Educação - António Sampaio da Nóvoa’ Center in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. The agreement was formalized during the ‘Sente Espanto’ Education Forum at the Sá de Miranda Municipal Theater.

The partnership involves the Viana do Castelo City Council, the Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo, and professor António Manuel Seixas Sampaio da Nóvoa, a prominent figure in Portuguese public education. The initiative aims to consolidate Viana do Castelo as an ‘Educator Municipality’ by promoting inclusive, equitable, and high-quality lifelong learning.

The project also seeks to advance research policies and strengthen international partnerships through the university’s Higher School of Education, focusing on active teaching methodologies and the role of science in knowledge construction.
