Viareggio Carnival to select 2027 official song in January

The Viareggio Carnival Foundation has announced that the official song for the 2027 Carnival edition will be selected on January 9 at the Gran Teatro di Torre del Lago. The selection will take place during the revived Festival dei Rioni.

The event will feature two stages: an afternoon session for children aged 6 to 14 performing historical and new songs, and an evening session for participants over 14. In the evening, each Rione will perform an original song, with a technical jury and a delegate from each Rione determining the winner.

Strict competition rules include a maximum song duration of three minutes and a prohibition on the use of Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, a ‘Vincolo di viaregginità’ requirement mandates that at least one singer, author, composer, or editor must be a resident or domiciled in the municipality of Viareggio.
