Viasat posts flat Q1 revenue while ViaSat-3 satellites near launch

Viasat Inc. reported first‑quarter revenue of about $1.2 billion, essentially unchanged year‑over‑year, as its Communication Services segment held steady at $825 million. The Defense and Advanced Technologies (DAT) segment grew 4% to $331 million, helped by a record $524 million in contract awards, including a U.S. Space Force contract for a maneuverable geostationary satellite. Net loss narrowed to $52 million and free cash flow rose 19% to $72 million.

The company confirmed that the second ViaSat‑3 satellite (F2) has completed in‑orbit testing and is slated to enter service by September 2026, while the third satellite (F3) is undergoing reflector deployment and is expected to begin service over the Asia‑Pacific region in late August or early September 2026.

Separately, Viasat director Theresa Wise sold 2,500 shares at an average price of $84.69, raising $211,725 and reducing her stake to 11,000 shares. The insider transaction was disclosed in an SEC filing.
