viaTYGO upgrades Dutch waste‑logistics platform as new kilometre charge takes effect

Effective 1 July, the Netherlands introduced a kilometre‑based charge on waste‑transport, forcing collection firms to eliminate empty runs and optimise every kilometre travelled. The change prompted a surge in demand on the recycling‑collaboration platform viaTYGO. In response, viaTYGO expanded its server capacity, enlarged its database, and deployed advanced matchmaking algorithms to handle the higher volume of real‑time ride requests while cutting CO₂ emissions.

The platform now integrates with existing waste‑management software, allowing operators to join the network, outsource inefficient trips, or fill empty trucks with nearby jobs. It promotes greener, cost‑effective routing and offers tools for companies to monitor and bundle orders.

In parallel, industry experts stress that selecting a recycling partner is a strategic decision that affects cost, compliance and reputation.
