Vibe coding and AI prompting redefine software development
The rise of AI-driven development is shifting the focus from traditional syntax mastery to the ability to provide precise instructions, a practice referred to as ‘vibe coding’. Coined by OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy, vibe coding involves creating software by conversing with AI, where the developer focuses on explaining objectives, testing results, and refining requirements rather than writing every line of code manually.
To support this shift toward Spec-Driven Development (SDD), new tools are emerging to manage the documentation that guides AI. One such open-source tool, Specsdrop, was developed to facilitate the easy sharing and mobile-friendly reading of Markdown files. The tool aims to reduce friction in reviewing technical specifications and roadmaps, which are critical for generating accurate code through AI prompts.
