Vibo Valentia: Two arrested for assault and arson of municipal official
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a series of violent attacks against a municipal official in Vibo Valentia. The investigation, led by the Squadra Mobile and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, follows an incident on April 29 where the official, identified as Andrea Nocita, was struck from behind with a blunt object near the Vibo-Pizzo railway station.
Following the physical assault, the official's car was set on fire in a separate act of intimidation. Investigators determined that the crimes were motivated by the official's professional duties, specifically regarding administrative checks and procedures related to illegal building and unauthorized construction. One suspect has been placed in prison, while the other is under house arrest with an electronic bracelet.
The suspects face multiple charges, including aggravated personal injury, attempted extortion, violence against a public official, and arson-related property damage.
