Vibo Valentia shooting: Court releases suspect after key video ruled inadmissible
The Catanzaro Reexamination Court has annulled the pretrial detention order for Antonio Manco, who is involved in an investigation regarding a shooting that occurred on August 28 in Vibo Valentia. Manco has been released following an appeal by his defense team.
The court ruled that surveillance footage provided by the Vibo Valentia Prosecutor's Office, which served as a central piece of evidence for the prosecution, was inadmissible in the pretrial proceedings because it was filed late. The footage reportedly documented shots fired at 60-year-old Gabriele Ionadi, who sustained non-serious injuries.
While released from custody, Manco remains under investigation for attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and weapons detention. During his interrogation, Manco admitted to firing shots but claimed his intent was to intimidate Ionadi rather than kill him.
