Vicari Swain sets South Carolina school record with two punt return touchdowns
Vicari Swain set a new school record for career punt return touchdowns during South Carolina’s 45-9 victory over Towson. Swain returned two punts for touchdowns in the game, marking his fourth and fifth career returns for scores.
His performance broke the previous record of four career punt return touchdowns held by Dickie Harris, who set the mark between 1969 and 1971. The first touchdown of the game came on a 58-yard return in the first quarter, providing the Gamecocks with an early lead. Swain also recorded a second touchdown in the third quarter.
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer praised the performance, noting the effectiveness of the blocking unit during the returns. The victory comes as the Gamecocks prepare for their Week 3 matchup against Mississippi State.
