Vice Admiral Christos Kontorouhas visits Greek Coast Guard unit in Lesbos

Vice Admiral Christos Kontorouhas, head of the Hellenic Coast Guard, carried out an official visit on 17‑18 July to the 9th Regional Unit at the Central Coast Guard Headquarters in Mytilene and the Lesbos Coast Guard Station. During the trip he met with the regional director, Archipelago L.S. Nikolaos Konstantelli, and the Central Coast Guard Commander of Mytilene, Lieutenant Commander Georgios Koulika, receiving detailed updates on local operations and challenges. Accompanied by the head of the Security and Policing Division, Vice Admiral Georgios Christiano, Kontorouhas inspected the patrol vessels operating in the Lesbos maritime area and praised the crews for their work. The visit also included meetings with the commanders of the Lesbos Military Regiment, the Naval Station, the North Aegean Police Regional Director, and the Lesbos Police Director to discuss joint operational interests.

The tour highlighted ongoing coordination between the Coast Guard, the armed forces, and police authorities in the Aegean region, underscoring the strategic importance of safeguarding the waters around Lesbos.
