Vice President CP Radhakrishnan launches Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in Sri Vijaya Puram

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign by hoisting the national flag at Flag Point in Sri Vijaya Puram during a two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He noted the historical significance of the location, where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose hoisted the tricolour on December 30, 1943, declaring the islands free from British rule.

The visit coincided with 'Quit India Movement Day' (August Kranti Diwas). Paying tribute to freedom fighters inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's 'Do or Die' call, the Vice President emphasized that their courage and patriotism continue to inspire generations.

As part of his itinerary, Radhakrishnan visited the Cellular Jail National Memorial, where he paid respects at the Shaheed Stambh and viewed the cell of Veer Savarkar. He also attended a light and sound show depicting India's independence struggle and was scheduled to participate in the 'Vande Mataram Par Tiranga Concert' at the BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology Auditorium.
