Vice President Edmand Lara accuses President Rodrigo Paz of corruption

Vice President Edmand Lara has intensified his criticism of President Rodrigo Paz, accusing the administration of “destroying” and “looting” the country. Lara expressed regret over supporting the current administration and stated he would support a recall referendum against both himself and Paz if necessary to address the nation's issues.

Legislators have responded by demanding that Lara present concrete evidence to support his allegations of corruption and mismanagement rather than making public accusations without proof. This confrontation highlights a deepening political fracture between the two leaders, who previously campaigned together.

In Tarija, the Alianza Libre party is withholding its position on the potential extension of the current state of exception. Representative Edgar Rendón stated the party is waiting for a government report detailing the results of the last three months of the measure. Rendón noted that extending the state of exception would legally prevent the initiation of any constitutional reforms, as current law prohibits such reforms while a state of exception is in effect.
