Vice President JD Vance's anti‑fraud task force uncovers billions in SNAP and health‑care scams

Vice President JD Vance heads the White House Task Force to Combat Fraud, which the administration says has recovered tens of billions of taxpayer dollars and halted billions in fraudulent payments. In a recent cabinet meeting Vance highlighted a fatal case in Minnesota where an elderly person died after a fraudulent provider billed for services never rendered, underscoring the human cost of the scheme.

The task force has launched “Operation Cold SNAP,” coordinating Homeland Security Investigations and the USDA Office of the Inspector General to execute search warrants at 20 SNAP retailers in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and is probing millions of allegedly fraudulent SNAP payments, including claims made for deceased individuals in Puerto Rico. The Department of Justice has also charged a participant in a $1.4 million fraud scheme tied to fraudulent health‑care billing.
