Tanzania Vice President urges institutional cooperation and environmental action
Tanzanian Vice President Deogratius John Ndejembi has called for increased cooperation among Union institutions to improve public services in health, education, and the economy. During a meeting of 39 institution heads in Zanzibar, he emphasized the need for these bodies to work with a unified vision to benefit Tanzanian citizens.
In a separate inspection in Dar es Salaam, Vice President Ndejembi conducted a surprise visit to the Ng’ombe River in Tandale to assess environmental sanitation and flood preparedness. He ordered the immediate removal of accumulated waste along the riverbanks and directed local authorities to establish formal waste disposal sites and improve collection infrastructure to prevent illegal dumping.
Additionally, CCM official Kenani Kihongosi has called for stricter accountability regarding infrastructure projects in the Temeke District. He urged the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) to take action against contractors for poor performance on road construction projects, which include works valued at over 92 billion Tanzanian shillings.
