Vice President Opoku-Agyemang defends Ghana's spending priorities

Ghanaian Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has addressed the internal working dynamics of the administration and the country's economic challenges. During an appearance on the KSM Show, she emphasized that her relationship with President John Dramani Mahama is built on mutual trust and shared national development goals outlined in the government's manifesto.

Opoku-Agyemang noted that the administration's focus remains on nation-building rather than internal political tension. She expressed confidence in the President's leadership, stating that her role is to support his decisions which align with their agreed objectives.

Addressing economic pressures, the Vice President defended the government's spending priorities in light of significant national debt. She argued that because the country cannot meet every public demand, resources must be carefully allocated to essential sectors like healthcare, education, and infrastructure. She noted that while some debts may be renegotiated, others must be settled, and warned against spreading resources too thinly for political popularity.
