Vice President Radhakrishnan flags off Onam pageantry in Kerala

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan participated in the conclusion of Kerala’s official Onam celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram, flagging off a grand pageantry procession. The event featured floats from 69 government departments and over 100 traditional and folk art forms, representing various Indian states and union territories.

During a visit to Alappuzha for the 115th anniversary of the Malayalam daily Kerala Kaumudi, the Vice President addressed flood risks, advocating for the periodic removal of sand from rivers to maintain depth. He cautioned against “fanaticism” in environmental protection, suggesting that environmental concerns should not obstruct development in industry, education, and healthcare. He also emphasized the importance of media responsibility in verifying information in the age of social media.
