Juanfran Pérez Llorca Drives Valencia PP Unity Ahead of Elections
The Valencian branch of Spain’s People’s Party (PP) has been holding a series of summer events to showcase internal cohesion and prepare for upcoming regional elections. President of the Diputación Vicent Mompó hosted a lunch for over a thousand party members in Sueca, while party leader Juanfran Pérez Llorca condemned the regional left for “agitating banners and generating noise” and promoted an “ambitious” education plan, noting that “the most important thing now is that the Generalitat government works to improve the lives of Valencians.”
Mayor María José Catalá rallied more than 500 supporters at a PP summer dinner, urging members to “row together and set aside personalisms.” She warned that “the elections are a year away and we must act decisively.” PP secretary‑general Miguel Tellado echoed the call for unity, stating “there is no time to lose.”
In the regional parliament, Les Corts, lawmakers are scrambling to pass the 2025 budget and the so‑called “law of accompaniment” before the summer recess. The PP and Vox coalition seeks to compress the calendar, while awaiting pending reports from the Committee on Economic and Social Affairs and the Consultative Legal Council. The accelerated timetable has sparked tension between the two parties as they aim to approve both measures by late July.
