Vicente Fox announces opposition campaign and supports Ernesto Ruffo

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox has announced his intention to actively participate in upcoming electoral contests to support opposition parties. While he has not specified whether he will campaign under the banner of the National Action Party (PAN) or the Somos México movement, Fox confirmed he is prepared for the political challenge.

During a press conference, Fox also expressed his full support for former Baja California Governor Ernesto Ruffo Appel, who is currently detained on allegations of organized crime and fuel smuggling. Fox stated, “I am personally involved because I love him very much, because I would put my hand in the fire for Ernesto Ruffo.”

Fox further alleged that Ruffo has been subjected to psychological mistreatment while held at the Altiplano Federal Re-adaptation Center. He called on authorities to ensure Ruffo receives dignified treatment, claiming the former governor has faced conditions that constitute psychological torture.
