Vicente Fox Praises PRI Following Coahuila Election Win

Former Mexican president Vicente Fox used his X account to congratulate the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) after the party's decisive victory in Coahuila’s local elections. In his post he wrote, “Felicidades, @PRI_Nacional, como en los viejos tiempos… Que sea para bien de México, de nuestra democracia, de la libertad y de la transparencia.”

Preliminary results from the state’s electoral institute show the PRI‑UDC coalition secured 684,211 votes (55.03%) and won all 16 single‑member districts, while the PT‑Morena alliance obtained 325,824 votes (26.20%). The data cover 99.86% of the ballot boxes, with final certification scheduled for June 10‑14. Fox’s message, noting the PRI’s “rebirth,” quickly generated reactions across social media, reflecting the unusual tone of a former president who ended seven decades of PRI rule in 2000 now celebrating its resurgence.
