Vicente Garrido discusses criminology and true crime

Criminologist Vicente Garrido Genovés delivered an inaugural lecture at the Faculty of Law titled ‘True Crime y criminología: mucho más que entretenimiento’. During his presentation, Garrido noted that individuals do not necessarily need to be psychopaths to commit murder, stating that people often kill for ‘ordinary reasons’.

Garrido also observed that the rate of violent crime in Spain remains significantly lower than the average seen in other Western nations. His lecture addressed the intersection of true crime media and the academic study of criminology.
