The Brazilian Academy of Cinema has selected ‘Vicentina Pede Desculpas’ to represent Brazil at the 41st Goya Awards in Spain. The film will compete in the Best Ibero-American Film category.

Directed by Gabriel Martins and starring Rejane Faria, the drama follows a 75-year-old retired teacher who seeks out the families of victims from a tragic bus accident in Belo Horizonte. Her journey is driven by a desire to seek forgiveness after investigations suggest her son, the bus driver, may have caused the accident intentionally.

The film has already gained international attention, having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and participated in the San Sebastián International Film Festival. The Goya Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Madrid on February 28, 2027.
