Vicentina Pede Desculpas trailer released for new Brazilian film
The official trailer for the Brazilian film ‘Vicentina Pede Desculpas’, written and directed by Gabriel Martins, has been released. The story follows Vicentina, a 75-year-old retired teacher, who navigates profound grief after her son, a bus driver named Wesley, dies in a tragic accident in Belo Horizonte. Following speculation that the crash may have been intentional, Vicentina embarks on a journey to meet the families of the other victims to offer apologies on her son's behalf.
A production by Filmes de Plástico in partnership with Netflix, the film features an ensemble cast including Rejane Faria, Flávio Bauraqui, and Grace Passô. The film has already gained international recognition, having been selected for the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the San Sebastián International Film Festival. It has also been chosen by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema to represent the country for the 2027 Goya Awards.
‘Vicentina Pede Desculpas’ is scheduled to be screened at the 28th Festival do Rio on October 9, 2026. It will then premiere in Brazilian cinemas on November 5, 2026, followed by its release on Netflix on November 20, 2026.
