Vicenza fans banned from Verona derby away match

Authorities have issued a ban on away fans from Vicenza attending the upcoming derby against Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi Stadium. The decision, made by the Prefecture of Verona to prevent potential disorder due to the intense rivalry between the two clubs, extends to residents of the Vicenza and Padova provinces.

Vicenza Mayor Giacomo Possamai expressed disagreement with the measure, arguing that peaceful supporters and families should not be penalized for the potential actions of a few. He emphasized that while rivalry is part of football, violence is not, and suggested that security measures should target specific troublemakers rather than entire fanbases.

To mitigate the impact of the ban, the Municipality of Vicenza will organize a public screening of the match on a large screen in Piazza dei Signori during the Notte Bianca event. This allows local supporters to follow the derby in a controlled and safe environment.
