Vicenza hosts sold-out diocesan assembly on Christian communities

The Teatro Comunale di Vicenza hosted a sold-out diocesan assembly titled ‘Generative Christian Communities: Rediscovering the Gift of Faith’ on September 19. The event brought together catechists, priests, pastoral council members, and educators to discuss the challenges facing Christian communities in an era of increasing secularization.

Don Michele Roselli, vicar for formation and director of the catechism office for the Diocese of Turin, addressed the assembly, noting that secularization has reached a peak where faith is becoming marginalized and is no longer the ‘connective tissue of living together.’ However, he suggested that secularization should be viewed qualitatively, indicating that faith can still be found through diverse and unexpected paths.

Davide Viadarin contributed to the discussion by reflecting on biblical parables, emphasizing that evangelization is a matter of perspective and recognizing the sacred within history. The assembly included video testimonies from various individuals, including adult scouts receiving confirmation and an asylum seeker welcomed by the community of Colzè.
