Vickrum Digwa convicted of murdering student Henry Nowak

Vickrum Digwa, 23, has been found guilty of the murder of 18-year-old university student Henry Nowak in Southampton. The incident occurred last December when Digwa attacked Nowak with a 21-centimeter knife. During the trial, the jury rejected Digwa’s claim of self-defense, which had been based on allegations of a racist attack, concluding that Nowak had not made any racist remarks.

The case has drawn significant scrutiny toward British police conduct. Bodycam footage revealed that officers handcuffed the severely injured Nowak while he was struggling to breathe and pleading for help. Despite his injuries, police treated him as a suspect based on Digwa’s false accusations. Nowak lost consciousness and died at the scene shortly after being restrained. Digwa has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
