Vicky Bennison celebrates Italian culinary traditions via Pasta Grannies

Vicky Bennison, creator of the Pasta Grannies online community and documentary series, is highlighting the culinary traditions and life wisdom of Italian grandmothers. After living in Italy’s Marche region, Bennison noticed that the older generation was the primary group still making pasta by hand.

Since launching the Pasta Grannies YouTube channel in 2014, Bennison has interviewed over 500 women across Italy, bringing their recipes to millions of viewers. The project aims to make these essential culinary figures visible, showcasing individuals such as 91-year-old Maria and 103-year-old Irma.

Bennison has authored three cookbooks, the first of which received a James Beard award. Her latest book, ‘Eat Everything: Pasta and Beyond for the Good Life’, published by Rizzoli, expands on the community’s philosophy of intentional, no-waste cooking and celebrating available food.
