Vicky Seymour appointed UK Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria

The United Kingdom has named Vicky Seymour as its new Deputy High Commissioner in Abuja, succeeding Gill Lever OBE. The appointment was announced on Thursday and takes effect immediately.

Seymour brings more than two decades of diplomatic and development experience, most recently serving as Head of the East Africa Department at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Her previous roles include leading the FCDO’s Trade Diplomacy Department, acting as Development Director in Mozambique, and senior postings in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Afghanistan. Before joining the civil service she worked in the non‑profit sector on migration issues.

In her new post, Seymour will work to deepen UK‑Nigeria cooperation across economic growth, security, migration, development and people‑to‑people ties, engaging with Nigerian officials, development partners and other stakeholders.
