Vico del Gargano hosts debate on Puglia end-of-life law proposal

A public debate held in Vico del Gargano addressed the proposal for end-of-life legislation in the Puglia region. The conference, titled ‘Liberi fino alla fine. È arrivato il momento di avere anche in Puglia una legge sul fine vita’, focused on a bill presented to the Regional Council by Councilor Napoleone Cera.

Cera emphasized that the proposed law aims to provide terminal patients with the freedom of choice and dignity rather than mandating euthanasia. The discussion also touched upon the current state of local healthcare and the protections for healthcare workers' autonomy.

Contributors included Miriam Ventura from the European Movement for the Disabled, who discussed the moral and legal implications of individual conscience, and Norberto Guerriero of the Luca Coscioni Association, who advocated for a shift in perspective regarding terminal care.
