A consortium of investors has proposed the construction of a data center in the Vicobellignano area, specifically at the site of the former Sereni furnace. Located near Casalmaggiore, the project aims to utilize existing industrial infrastructure and strategic transport and telecommunications networks to reduce energy costs.

Proponents suggest the facility could drive economic growth by creating jobs, increasing regional attractiveness for tech companies, and improving local digital infrastructure. The project is seen as a way to repurpose disused industrial land without consuming new agricultural soil, potentially supporting strategic sectors like cloud services and artificial intelligence.
