Victor Belmondo stars in new French series ‘The Red and the Black’

The new French drama series ‘The Red and the Black’ is an adaptation of Stendhal’s 1830 novel. Starring Victor Belmondo as the ambitious and calculating Julien Sorel, the four-part series explores themes of passion, power, and political intrigue within a society dominated by class and moral hypocrisy.

Directed by Gaël Morel, the series reunites him with Belmondo following their 2024 collaboration. The screenplay is written by Georges-Marc Benamou and Gilles Taurand. The production is a collaboration between Wild Bunch, France Télévisions, and Siècle Productions.

Following screenings at Canneseries and the Italian Global Series Festival, the series is making its international market debut at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre.
