Victor Boniface Starts Pre‑Season Early with Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface, the 25‑year‑old Nigerian striker, began preseason training ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, becoming the first player to report to the club’s facilities. After undergoing knee surgery in early 2024 and a disappointing loan spell at Werder Bremen, Boniface returned from Nigeria and started individual work in the gym and on the pitch to rebuild fitness.

The club announced he will join the squad for its pre‑season camp in Blankenhain, near Erfurt, from 1 to 7 August. Sporting director Simon Rolfes expressed confidence that Boniface can regain his form that helped Leverkusen win the unbeaten Bundesliga title in 2023‑24. The striker aims to improve his conditioning and compete for a regular place as the team prepares for the league opener on 29 August.
