Victor Ferreira do Amaral viaduct in Curitiba reopens to traffic

The return lane (alça) under the Victor Ferreira do Amaral viaduct in the Tarumã district of Curitiba was reopened to vehicles on the night of Thursday, 6 August. The reopening restores the connection for drivers using the Linha Verde corridor from Atuba toward Pinheirinho.

The lane had been closed for works that are part of the Complexo Tarumã urban‑mobility project. Current work focuses on the upper part of the viaduct, where the exclusive bus lane is being upgraded. Teams have removed the existing pavement, excavated a base of compacted concrete roll (CCR) 14 cm thick, and will install a rigid concrete slab 24 cm thick over an 840‑metre stretch that is 7 m wide. Two new tube‑type stations, additional sidewalks and accessibility improvements are also being added. The intervention will integrate this segment with the rest of the bus lane, completing the modernization of the final stretch of the former highway in the city’s north.

The municipal Secretariat of Public Works, through the PRO Curitiba revitalisation programme, coordinates the works, which aim to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance public‑transport infrastructure in the region.
