Victor Henderson runs for Chicago Board of Education president

During his campaign, Henderson has faced scrutiny regarding allegations of abuse that appeared in court filings related to a 2008 divorce and custody case. The filings included claims of violent incidents involving his children. Henderson has denied the allegations, stating they originated during an “emotionally difficult chapter” in his family life and noting that there were no criminal charges, arrests, or court findings establishing the claims as fact. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Alderwoman Jeanette Taylor have commented on the situation, noting the seriousness of the allegations while acknowledging that voters will ultimately decide his qualifications.
