Victor Hovland defeats Scottie Scheffler to win PGA Tour title

Norwegian golfer Victor Hovland captured his eighth PGA Tour victory at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. After a weather‑delayed round, both players finished 21‑under‑par and proceeded to an extra‑hole playoff, where Hovland sank a 2‑metre birdie putt to edge world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

The win, his first on the Tour in more than a year, lifted Hovland to 12th in the Official World Golf Ranking, up from 30th. Throughout the tournament he was cheered by a group of Norwegian supporters who performed a distinctive “rowing” chant, a tradition that had followed them from a recent North America World Cup soccer cheering campaign.
