Victor Meirelles Museum to host special tour for artist's anniversary

The Victor Meirelles Museum will host a special free guided tour on August 18, 2026, to commemorate the 194th anniversary of the artist's birth. The one-hour session will explore the exhibition ‘Victor Meirelles e a pintura histórica: percursos e técnicas’.

The tour will cover the artist's life and technical evolution, beginning with the historical house where he was born in Florianópolis. It will highlight his early talent, such as his 1846 watercolor, and progress through his portraits of the royal family and his monumental historical paintings. The activity concludes with a practical workshop where participants can create symbolic birthday postcards.
