Victor Montagliani emerges as potential FIFA president candidate

Victor Montagliani, the 60-year-old Canadian president of CONCACAF and FIFA vice-president, has emerged as a potential candidate to replace FIFA president Gianni Infantino. FIFA is currently experiencing a leadership crisis following Infantino’s unsuccessful attempt to sell a stake in the World Cup, which led to widespread calls for his resignation.

Montagliani previously led the rebuilding of CONCACAF, describing the organization as being “bankrupt — morally, financially and especially in terms of football” when he assumed leadership a decade ago. He has emphasized that his leadership philosophy focuses on accountability, transparency, and service rather than power.
