Victor Ochei pledges farm security and criticizes APC takeover

Victor Ochei, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Delta North and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, has outlined his political platform and grievances.

In his campaign manifesto, Ochei pledged to prioritize security for farmers and rural communities to protect agricultural production and economic stability. He emphasized the need to enforce the Delta State Livestock Breeding, Rearing and Marketing Regulation Law of 2021 to mitigate conflicts between farmers and livestock operators. His proposed strategy includes improving coordination between state and local governments, establishing rapid-response mechanisms, and strengthening community-based intelligence systems.

Separately, Ochei addressed his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa betrayed him by hijacking the party's structure following Okowa's defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ochei claimed that Okowa and his allies took control of key political positions and local government councils, leaving existing party members with little influence.
