Victor Osimhen involved in confrontation during Galatasaray loss to Villarreal

During a pre-season friendly match, Villarreal defeated Galatasaray 2-1, a result overshadowed by a confrontation involving Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen. In the 37th minute, Osimhen shoved Uruguayan defender Santiago Mouriño to the ground after Mouriño used his body to block a run into the penalty area. Both players received yellow cards from referee Kadir Sağlam.

Villarreal coach Inigo Perez criticized the incident, stating that the opposing team came onto the field “to fight” rather than to play football. He expressed frustration that Osimhen only received a yellow card for the unprovoked attack.

Despite the altercation, Osimhen had scored an early equalizer in the fifth minute with a header from an Eren Elmali cross. However, Georges Mikautadze scored for Villarreal shortly before halftime, securing the win. This loss marks Galatasaray’s third defeat in five pre-season matches. The club's supporters have also expressed dissatisfaction regarding recent transfer activities as the team prepares to begin its Super Lig title defense against Corum.
