Victor Osimhen tax warning resolved by Galatasaray
Galatasaray has reportedly resolved a tax issue involving Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen after receiving a formal warning notice from a bank. The notice, an ihtarname, reportedly warned that Osimhen’s account could be blocked if outstanding income tax was not paid.
While reports from outlets such as Hürriyet and Fanatik indicated that the club failed to pay the tax on time, the situation was addressed quickly after Osimhen contacted club executives. Fanatik described the delay as a “technical and administrative issue” and stated there was “no dispute between the Nigerian star and the club.”
Under Osimhen’s contract, which includes a guaranteed net salary of €15m per year, Galatasaray is responsible for ensuring he receives his full pay after taxes. According to Turkish tax regulations, clubs must withhold 20% from Super Lig players' payments, and players exceeding certain income thresholds must also file personal returns. No specific bank or exact amount owed has been publicly disclosed.
