Victor Wembanyama rejects sports betting endorsements
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has declared that he will never sign endorsement deals with sports betting companies or prediction markets. Speaking during a training camp, the 22-year-old French player expressed that he finds it ‘very sad’ to see other professional athletes promote gambling platforms.
Wembanyama emphasized that his primary goal is to use his influence to inspire people positively rather than focusing solely on financial gain. He noted that he has previously rejected lucrative offers that did not align with his personal values.
His stance stands in contrast to several other NBA superstars who have embraced partnerships within the gambling and prediction market sectors. LeBron James recently announced a multi-year deal with Polymarket, Kevin Durant is an ambassador for FanDuel, and Giannis Antetokounmpo holds a stake in Kalshi. While NBA regulations allow such partnerships, players are prohibited from promoting gambling specifically related to NBA games.
