Victor Wembanyama targeted after Spurs lose 29‑point lead to Knicks in NBA Finals

San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama was nearly struck by a flying egg as he walked to his hotel following Game 4 of the NBA Finals, in which the Spurs surrendered a 29‑point lead and were defeated by the New York Knicks. The incident was captured on video; the source of the egg was not identified. Police reported that 56 people were arrested on charges ranging from assault to disorderly conduct in the surrounding unrest.

Former NBA champion Draymond Green warned that the historic comeback could harm the Spurs’ reputation and future competitiveness, saying the loss may cause other teams to view San Antonio as vulnerable. The Spurs, now trailing the series 3‑1, will try to stave off elimination in Game 5, a matchup expected to draw a large contingent of Knicks fans traveling to San Antonio.
