Victoria and Western Australia road upgrades to finish months early, easing traffic

The Clyde Road Upgrade in Melbourne’s southeast is now slated for completion in October, seven months ahead of its original May 2027 deadline. The project widens the overpass across the Princes Freeway at Berwick from six to ten lanes and upgrades the Sir Gustav Nossal Boulevard and Kangan Drive intersections. Installation of bridge beams and precast concrete panels is already underway, and the upgrade is expected to create more than 1,300 jobs while supporting future population growth.

In Western Australia, the Glendalough intersection at Jon Sanders Drive, Powis Street and Harborne Street will be completely redesigned. The upgrade adds dedicated turning lanes, new traffic‑signal phasing and a 3‑metre shared path linking to the Mitchell Freeway. Funding comes two‑thirds from the state government and one‑third from the City of Stirling and the Town of Cambridge. Construction is set to begin early 2027 and finish by July 2027.
