Victoria announces $3m grant program for beer tourism
The Victorian Government has committed $3 million to establish a beer tourism grant program aimed at supporting independent breweries. Announced by Premier Ben Carroll, the funding is intended to bolster regional economies by helping breweries attract more visitors and increase the length of stay in local areas.
The grants will support various initiatives, including visitor infrastructure, accessibility, signage, tours, tastings, and family-friendly amenities. The Independent Brewers Association (IBA) welcomed the announcement, noting that it aligns with their ‘Grow Victorian Beer’ policy platform released in March.
According to the IBA, Victoria is home to approximately 147 independent breweries that indirectly employ around 7,500 people. The association stated that the funding addresses critical priorities for the sector as local breweries face economic challenges.
