Argentina reports surge in domestic violence and violent crime incidents
Argentina has seen a series of violent incidents involving domestic disputes, gender-based violence, and accidental shootings.
In Mar del Plata, a 13-year-old girl remains in intensive care after being shot in the head. Authorities are investigating whether the incident was an accident occurring while she and her 16-year-old boyfriend were handling a firearm. The teenager has been detained.
In Neuquén, a 20-year-old woman was investigated after allegedly stabbing her 27-year-old partner in the neck following a dispute. The victim was hospitalized in intensive care.
Other reported crimes include a woman in Catamarca being hospitalized after a brutal domestic assault, a 24-year-old in Lastenia suffering burns during an attack by her partner, and a 10-year-old boy in Alto Hospicio intervening to protect his sister from their mother. Additionally, the FBI alerted authorities to violent threats made by minors on AI platforms, including discussions regarding school shootings and weapons.
In Corrientes, a man was arrested for luring his partner's lover into an ambush using her phone, resulting in a shooting and stabbing.
