Victoria Eugenia Muñoz Jiménez releases historical novel about Granada landowner

Author Victoria Eugenia Muñoz Jiménez has released her latest novel, ‘El secreto del duque’ (Editorial Sánchez), which explores the life of Julio Quesada Cañaveral y Piédrola, the Duke of San Pedro de Galatino.

The novel focuses on the historical figure's impact on Granada during the first third of the 20th century. As a prominent landowner, Quesada Cañaveral invested significantly in the region's economy through agricultural enterprises, transportation, and hospitality, including the construction of the Alhambra Palace hotel and the Sierra Nevada tramway.

The narrative also touches upon his social responsibilities, such as building schools and a church for local residents, as well as his close historical ties to the Spanish monarchy, specifically his childhood friendship with Alfonso XII and his subsequent support for Alfonso XIII.
