Victoria Falls seeks tourism partnerships with South Korea

The City of Victoria Falls is seeking to establish new partnerships with South Korea to boost tourism. Officials noted that while 1.8 million tourists visited Zimbabwe last year, only 15,000 were from South Korea, despite the high volume of South Korean international travelers.

Discussions between local officials and the South Korean Ambassador focused on potential collaboration through destination marketing, Ministry to Ministry Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), and promotional roadshows. The city is also interested in establishing twinning arrangements with South Korean local authorities to complement existing partnerships in South Africa and Botswana.

While the city experiences growth through the arrival of international hotel brands, officials emphasize the need for increased promotion to tap into the South Korean market. General travel assessments for the region indicate that Zimbabwe remains a welcoming destination for tourists, provided standard precautions regarding petty theft, road safety, and wildlife are observed.
